About The Event

Eat - Breathe - Thrive Day Retreat

Saturday 30th March 2019

Join us for a day of Joy, Transformation and Positivity.

Our Day Retreat begins with 90 minutes of energising and detoxing yoga flow by yoga teacher Hannah Does Yoga. We then pause for an energy treat and later in the morning join Nutritionist Clare Jones for a short informative talk on eating for happiness followed by a Q&A over oolong tea. We sit down for a 3 course vegetarian or vegan lunch by The Complete Retreat. Our afternoon is spent with Bridget Fitzpatrick for a joyful and positive Mindfulness session. Wow what a day!

10:00am - 11:30am - Hatha Vinyasa Yoga with Hannah Does Yoga

We start your transformational day and begin the tremendous journey of falling in love with who you are. Hannah Does Yoga, a hatha vinyasa yoga teacher and trained yoga therapist for eating disorders will run a 90 minute yoga flow session focused on helping you to establish a healthy relationship with your body, your eating behaviour and your life. Learning to thrive, not just live.

Hannah fell in love with yoga whilst in the depths of struggling with binge eating, depression and very negative body talk. She has used yoga, not just to recover, but to fall in love with her life. Hannah’s workshop will be all about teaching somatic exercises, using the ancient wisdom of yoga to build a positive relationship between your body and your mind.

The session will start with 45 minutes of energising and detoxifying yoga flow followed by three 15 minute exercises designed to:

  • Increase interoceptive awareness through an assessment of needs meditation.
  • Work on using the body as a vehicle for expression to combat negative self talk through an energetic movement exercise.
  • Group and Partner work to discover the power of community, and work on embodied intentional movement.

Pause - Energy Treats

11:30am - 12:30pm - Nutrition for Happiness. A short talk with Q&A over oolong tea with Clare Jones

In this session we take time out to reflect on what our bodies need and how to reconnect with the joy of good food. With all the confusing information out there, what is a healthy diet? We’ll talk about choosing food to support good health that can work with a busy lifestyle, nurturing and nourishing from within. Can we incorporate novelty and innovation while eating in harmony with the seasons?

The talk will focus on positive eating and cover;

  • Listening to our bodies
  • Eating in harmony with the seasons
  • Novelty and innovation
  • Re-connecting with the joy of good food
  • Nurturing and nourishing from within
  • Choosing food to suit our health and lifestyle

12:30pm - 2:00pm 3 course vegetarian or vegan lunch with Kombucha by The Complete Retreat

2:00pm - 3.30pm - Mindfulness Session with Bridget Fitzpatrick

We’re programmed to notice and hang on to negative experiences and overlook the positive, joyful moments in life. The mindfulness session will focus on how we can rebalance this bias, and reshape how we see and experience the world.

We can become more aware of all of the positive things happening every day in our lives and let them help us enjoy life more. We’ll try out different ways to seek out and savour the joy and fun in our lives and you’ll get some simple tools to take away and try at home, at work, anywhere.
